The aim of this project is to construct a model of ‘best practice’ for healthcare transition planning which can be applied to future ventures and help to build a body of research specifically targeted at service and infrastructure transitions such as at those experienced at these case studies.

Specifically, the objectives of this research are to provide an international model of best practice for hospitals in transition.
- To analyse elements of service and infrastructure transition which are context specific or generalisable across the UK, US and Canada.
- To suggest an optimal level and timescale of planning for hospital transitions.
- To observe the context, drivers and consequences of hospital transition.
- To analyse the social accounts, communications, stories and diffusion of ideas and engagement throughout all levels of the hospital during service and infrastructure transitions.
