Benefits Realisation

Initially we set ourselves the objective of identifying current best practices and demonstrating how to improve benefits realisation in healthcare infrastructure provision.

Our drivers were to:
• Develop new understanding on the use of benefits realisation management in the context of the built environment, healthcare infrastructure and operations management.
• Develop benefits realisation management tools that embrace self-checking processes and improve process visibility.
• Examine how product and service delivery can be integrated at both the planning and implementation phase.
• Develop a process that considers the organisations built environment and resources to realise benefits in an efficient and effective approach.
• Explore issues in relation to stakeholder management, knowledge management and communication aspects throughout a project’s lifecycle.

Methods:
• An extensive literature review benefits realisation & management and relevant areas such as management of: programmes and projects, change, complexity, performance, stakeholders, knowledge
• Comparison of existing models and frameworks.
• In active collaboration with leading industry partners we undertook a variety of case and comparator studies, not only to define a business critical process but to set out an approach which put benefits realisation at the heart of securing wholly integrated (collective) change
• Steering group to provide direction advice and work in progress validation.
