Reducing Construction Waste in Healthcare facilities: A Project Lifecycle Approach.

Knowledge gaps emanating from literature indicate no insights into: causes and origins of waste that are specific to healthcare facilities; complex features in healthcare facilities that affect waste generation; and suitable waste minimisation approach to reduce construction waste in healthcare projects. As such, a preliminary data collection was used to complement literature findings and establish a firm foundation to the research. Subsequently, four exploratory case studies were conducted with the aim of identifying highly impacted waste causes in terms of waste generation, relationships between waste causes and complex features, and potential waste minimisation practices to implement throughout the building lifecycle to reduce construction waste generation.
